@theo
Beta downloads into my bedroom.
With a Bluetooth speaker in hand and a silent understanding.
He solemnly sets the speaker on my dresser, joins me and Mini sitting at the edge of my bed.
“What song?” Mini asks softly as I pair my phone.
“It’s got to be ‘2112,’ little dude,” suggests Beta.
“Or ‘The Spirit of Radio.’”
“‘Tom Sawyer.’”
“Dude, ‘Xanadu.’ Play ‘Xanadu.’”
“‘Limelight.’”
“What do you think, Theo?”
I scroll through the playlist on my phone. Stop. Tap a track that I haven’t heard in ages. It’s not a particularly well-known or dexterous Rush song—but, then, it doesn’t need to be.
“Bravado” starts playing.
And for the next four-and-a-half minutes, Neil is with us again.
RIP, Neil Peart
